Actor Nick Offerman is going from a parks and recreation department to “A Confederacy of Dunces.”

According to The Boston Globe, Offerman will star in a stage production of the work by John Kennedy Toole at Boston’s Huntingon Theatre Company, where the stage show will make its world premiere.

“I am simply tumescent at the prospect of assaying the beloved character of Ignatius J. Reilly with our team of magnificent and weird artistic champions,” Offerman said in a statement, according to the The New York Times. “It seems only fitting that I should follow seven seasons of Ron Swanson’s beef with the pudding of Toole’s corpulent fop.”

Can Syria heal? For many, Step 1 is learning the difficult truth.

Offerman portrayed the character of Ron Swanson on NBC’s sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” which aired its series finale last month.

The production of “Dunces” will run between November and December 2015 and will be directed by David Esbjornson.

The book “Dunces” was released in 1980 and won the Pulitzer Prize.
