Barnes & Noble appears to be continuing to succeed with its B&N-exclusive editions of young adult titles.

As we previously reported, B&N has released special editions of such popular YA books as John Green’s “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Allegiant” by Veronica Roth. These exclusive titles include such material as Q&As with the authors or extra material not included in the book itself.

Another exclusive edition is currently near the top of the B&N bestseller list. “The Heir” by Kiera Cass, the fourth in Cass’s “Selection” YA series, is currently ranked at number four on the bookselling website, above books that are bestsellers on other websites such as Dana Perino's "And the Good News Is...," David Baldacci's "Memory Man," and Paula Hawkins' "The Girl on the Train." The B&N version of “The Heir” has an extra scene not included in the original book, is signed by Cass, and has new photos.

“Heir” is also selling well at competitor Amazon – it’s currently ranked at number 26 – but the B&N exclusive edition seems to be selling even better. The exclusive edition program appears to be a success for the retailer.
