Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] is recalling certain 2014 Ford Escape models for an issue that could cause the glass of its panorama roof to detach.

Affected Escapes were built at the Louisville Assembly Plant from Oct 15, 2013 through October 22, 2013. In these vehicles, the front panorama glass may not be secure to the vehicle body, due to the two-part urethane epoxy being mixed incorrectly.

A vehicle with this condition may experiences a wind or water leak, or the front panorama glass could separate from the vehicle body while the vehicle is being driven -- potentially causing a crash.

Dealers will replace the front panorama roof glass on affected vehicles.

Affected title-branded and salvage vehicles are also eligible for this recall. If there is a related damage condition that might have been caused by the covered condition, it may be eligible for repair under this recall, too.

Dealers will have to call the Special Service Support Center for approval prior to the repair for any related damage. Ford is not reimbursing owners for any repairs done except for those at a Ford service center.

Ford will be mailing owner letters the week of July 14, 2014. This recall is being managed by Ford Motor Company via VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). The best way to determine if a vehicle is involved in this action is to call local dealers with the VIN of the vehicle in question. Dealers will run a database search to see if the vehicle is involved in this recall.
