Nokia says it's going to unveil 'something big' tomorrow. Many point to an oversized smart phone – otherwise known as a phablet.

At 9 in the morning Tuesday – UK time – Nokia will take the wraps off a new device.

What kind of device? Well, the Finnish company is staying mum on the specifics. Our only clues are a short post on the Nokia Conversations blog with an even shorter headline: "Something BIG landing here tomorrow."

But smart money is on a new oversized smart phone, or phablet. As Chris Davies of Slashgear notes, a Windows Phone 8-equipped phablet known as the Nokia Lumia 625 recently passed radio certification in China, which could be the first step in a wider roll-out of the device. The 625 is believed to be equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 4.7-inch display, putting it firmly in phablet territory.

Tracing fentanyl’s path into the US starts at this port. It doesn’t end there.

If you're interested in taking an early look at the Lumia 625, the tech site LiveSide has posted an image (although we can't vouch for its veracity).

In related news, Nokia recently posted its Q2 2013 results, and the figures were pretty gloomy: declining revenues, a 24 percent dip in overall sales. But there was a bright spot, and it came in the form in the Lumia line. According to Nokia, 7.4 million Lumia handsets were shipped in the second quarter of the fiscal year, a record for the company, and validation for its Windows-powered flagship smart phone.

Still, Nokia has plenty of ground to make up in the US, where it lags far behind rivals Apple and Samsung.
