Black Ops: Annihilation, the third content pack for mature-rated Call of Duty: Black Ops, will become available for download on June 28, Treyarch announced today. Xbox 360 owners will get their hands on the Annihilation DLC first, followed by PC and PS3 gamers later. Treyarch has not yet listed a price, but the previous two packs – First Strike and Escalation – sold for $15.

In a statement, Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia said that Annihilation will include "an all-new Zombies experience, Shangri-La, an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters." Watch the video below – not for the faint of heart – for more details on the maps, which do look particularly lush. And complex. And chaotic. And probably, pretty fun.

Earlier this month, of course, Activision announced that it would release its own social media/subscription service called Call of Duty Elite, which will allow players to track their progress, keep notes, exchange comments – or taunts – with fellow gamers, and watch videos of their most memorable multiplayer experiences. Elite is open in limited beta now; the full version will launch this fall.

Which is, coincidentally, the time that Modern Warfare 3 is expected to hit shelves. Activision has continued to up itself in the sales department – Modern Warfare 2 sold to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide, and Call of Duty: Black Ops sold more than $650 million worth in the first five days of sales alone. That means Modern Warfare 3 should make..... $359 billion – just a ballpark.
