Singer Idina Menzel will sing the national anthem at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, according to the Associated Press.
The game will take place on July 15 in Minneapolis and Menzel will also sing before the game, according to the AP, performing a rendition of Bob Dylan’s song “Forever Young.”
The week will also include performances by the band Imagine Dragons on July 19, also at Target Field in Minneapolis, and the music group Panic! At the Disco, which will perform on July 20 at the stadium.
Menzel is currently performing on Broadway in the musical “If/Then,” which follows her character, Elizabeth, through two paths in life, one based on her decision to try new things in New York City and the other grounded in an effort to concentrate on making connections in the work world. The musical opened on Broadway this past March and was Menzel’s first Broadway role since her Tony Award-winning performance as Elphaba, also known as the Wicked Witch of the West, in the show “Wicked,” which debuted on Broadway in 2003. “If/Then” also co-stars her “Rent” colleague Anthony Rapp, who along with Menzel was part of the original Broadway cast of "Rent."
“If/Then” was conceived by much of the team behind the Tony Award-winning musical “Next to Normal.” The productions share a director, Michael Greif, as well as a writer, Brian Yorkey, who wrote the script and lyrics, and a composer, Tom Kitt.
Menzel recently gained attention for her work voicing the character of Elsa in the 2013 Disney animated film “Frozen.” In the movie, her character performed the Oscar-winning song “Let It Go,” which quickly became popular. Menzel performed the song at the 2013 Oscars and it won the Best Original Song Award, while “Frozen” won the Best Animated Feature Film prize.
“Frozen” co-starred Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad.
