Nickelodeon has reportedly decided to cancel its TV program “Sam and Cat.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nickelodeon recently determined it would not move forward with the show that stars Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy. The show had already been on hiatus since this past March.

“Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat," a Nickelodeon spokesperson said in a statement. "We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best.”

Grande spoke about the end of the show as well. “I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supportive of my multitasking with my music career, and for of course introducing me to many of my fans however many years ago,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

“Sam” premiered in 2013 and follows two roommates, Cat (Grande) and Sam (McCurdy), who work as babysitters. The show is a spin-off of the Nickelodeon show “iCarly,” which starred Miranda Cosgrove and on which Sam was a character as well, and the Nickelodeon program “Victorious,” which featured Cat as a character.

Twenty episodes were initially ordered for the first season of the show in 2013, but in July of last year, Nickelodeon increased the order to 40 episodes and the upcoming episode on July 17 will be the series finale.

While Grande had attended the Kids' Choice Awards, which were held this past March soon after the show went on hiatus, McCurdy did not and wrote on Twitter that she "was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation ... and I had to look out for me. I chose not to go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing."

McCurdy's co-star Grande is behind the song “Problem,” which features rapper Iggy Azalea and is currently at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of July 19. The song is from her upcoming album “My Everything,” which will be released on Aug. 22. Grande had previously released an album titled “Yours Truly” in 2013, which included the songs “The Way” and “Baby I.”
