'Fargo' creator reveals details about the new season of the FX drama

What can fans of the FX series “Fargo” expect for the second season?
The series, which is based on the 1996 Oscar-winning film of the same name, directed by the Coen brothers, concluded its first season in June. Its first cycle starred “Sherlock” actor Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Colin Hanks, and Allison Tolman. “Fargo” was nominated for several Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Miniseries, with Freeman and Thornton both being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries, Hanks being nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries, and Tolman receiving a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries, among others.
The first season of “Fargo” took place in 2006 and followed an insurance salesman named Lester Nygaard (Freeman) who falls under the sway of wanderer Lorne Malvo (Thornton).
Series creator Noah Hawley said the second season will be taking place even further in the past. The new episodes will travel back in time to 1979 and take place “around… Luverne, Minnesota and Fargo and Sioux Falls, [South Dakota],” he said, according to TV Guide.
Hawley said Keith Carradine’s diner owner character, Lou Solverson, who is the father of Tolman’s character Deputy Molly Solverson, will be seen in the new season. “Lou Solverson is a state police officer [in the new season],” he said. “His wife Betsy, her dad is the sheriff of Rock County. [Lou's] father-in-law is a character in this next go-round. I don't know if we see any other Solversons... I'm excited to spend time with Molly's mom.”
He said actor Peter Breitmayer, who portrays the superior of Hanks’ police officer character Gus Grimley, will also come back for the new season.
Because of the time jump, Hawley said Tolman will not be in the new episodes but added that “she should be in everything everyone ever makes, as far as I'm concerned.”
According to the Associated Press, the new season of the show will air in fall 2015 at the earliest.
