Chelsea Handler hosts the last episode of her E! program 'Chelsea Lately'

Chelsea Handler will reportedly move to Netflix for a talk show that will debut sometime in 2016. In the meantime, Chelsea Handler will debut a stand-up special and four 'docu-comedy' specials on the site.

The last episode of late night TV host Chelsea Handler’s program “Chelsea Lately,” which is found on E!, aired on Aug. 26.

Handler announced this June that she will be heading to Netflix, where she will not only have a talk show but will also release four “docu-comedy” specials and a stand-up special, according to Deadline. The talk show will reportedly debut in 2016 and, according to the New York Times, Netflix spokesperson Karen Barragan said that the new show would most likely not have every episode go up on the website at the same time as has been the case for Netflix series like “Orange Is the New Black” and “Arrested Development.” According to the NYT, Handler’s Netflix stand-up special will debut on Oct. 10.

Many celebrities, including actresses Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock and singers Miley Cyrus, Dave Grohl, Gwen Stefani, 50 Cent, and Selena Gomez appeared on the final episode of “Chelsea Lately,” which debuted on E! in 2007. Dozens of stars came on the last episode to sing to Handler, while Cyrus also performed the song “It’s Over” by Roy Orbison. The episode was filmed live, according to the website TVLine. “Lately” is usually taped in the afternoon. 

“I’m really really appreciative to E! for giving me this opportunity to do the show and I never really got a chance to be serious and say thank you,” Handler said during the final episode. “I’ll see you on Netflix.”

Handler’s program usually included the host delivering jokes and participating in a discussion with other staff writers or stars about topics of the day. People who often appeared in the discussion segment included Whitney Cummings of the NBC program “Whitney" and Mary Lynn Rajskub of the Fox show “24." Handler would also interview that night’s guest.

Handler is also the author of such books as “Uganda Be Kidding Me,” which she released this past March.
