Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell are confirmed to star in new season of 'True Detective'
Soon after Farrell revealed in an interview that he's starring in the new episodes, HBO confirmed that Farrell and Vaughn are on board for the second season. The actors who will be playing two other lead characters have not yet been revealed.

Soon after actor Colin Farrell revealed he would star in the upcoming season of the critically acclaimed HBO drama “True Detective,” HBO confirmed that Farrell will star and stated that actor Vince Vaughn will also be in the new episodes.
Farrell recently said in an interview with the Sunday World that he is “doing the second series… I’m so excited” and that the new season will consist of eight episodes like the first season. Now HBO has confirmed that Farrell and Vaughn will star in the new episodes, according to Variety, and that Justin Lin of “Fast & Furious 6” will direct the first two episodes in the new season.
The official summary of the new episodes, according to Deadline, is “Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.”
Farrell will play a police detective named Ray Velcoro who has ties to a mobster, while Vaughn will portray Frank Semyon, a criminal who tries to start a law-abiding venture but soon discovers that a business partner has been killed.
According to Deadline, the other two police officers will be named Paul Woodrugh and the other will be Ani Bezzerides.
The first season of the drama starred Matthew McConaughey of “Dallas Buyers Club” and “The Hunger Games” actor Woody Harrelson as police detectives in Louisiana investigating a series of bizarre crimes. The show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the most recent Emmy Awards and McConaughey and Harrelson were both nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for their roles. Los Angeles Times critic Robert Lloyd called the first season “quietly terrific… Even minor characters get room to breathe, and seem independently alive… The dance [McConaughey and Harrelson] do together here is work of a very high order, and all the reason you need to watch.”
