'Twin Peaks': A new book about the characters will be released in 2015

The book will reportedly be written by 'Twin Peaks' co-creator Mark Frost.

“Twin Peaks” fans will have something to tide them over until the debut of new episodes in 2016 – a new “Peaks” book.

“Peaks” co-creator and executive producer Mark Frost is writing “The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks,” which will look at what the characters of the show have been occupied with during the gap between the old episodes and the newer installments, according to Deadline. The new “Peaks” episodes are set to air on Showtime in 2016, but the book is set for publication in late 2015.

The work will be published by Flatiron Books and will also delve into the show’s mystery of who killed homecoming queen Laura Palmer.

“This has long been a dream project of mine that will bring a whole other aspect of the world of Twin Peaks to life, for old fans and new,” Frost said in a statement, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Various “Peaks” books have already been published, including the book “The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer,” which was penned by Jennifer Lynch, daughter of “Peaks” co-creator David Lynch.

Earlier this month, it was reported that new episodes of “Peaks” will air on Showtime and will be produced and written by Frost and Lynch, while Lynch will direct all the installments. Nine episodes are currently planned and when the subject of more episodes after that came up in an interview with Variety, Frost said, “The proof will be in the pudding. If we have a great time doing it and everybody loves it and they decide there’s room for more, I could see it going that way.” 

“Peaks” aired from 1990 to 1991 and starred Kyle MacLachlan as an FBI agent, Dale Cooper, who is looking into the death of Laura Palmer in the town in Washington State after which the show is named.
