Sorry, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

On Oct. 21, Marvel tweeted that a trailer for the upcoming “Avengers” movie, “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” would debut during the newest episode of “S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which airs on ABC. Soon, however, the trailer leaked online. Marvel’s response on Twitter showed good humor.

(In the Marvel universe, Hydra is a villainous organization determined to take over the world. Members include Red Skull, the main antagonist in the 2011 movie “Captain America: The First Avenger.”)

So soon after, Marvel tweeted out a link to the trailer.

The clip includes a clear look at the villain Ultron (James Spader) as well as a glimpse of twins Quicksilver (actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). In addition, actor Andy Serkis, who is famous for his motion capture work on characters such as Gollum from the “Lord of the Rings” films and an ape in the new “Planet of the Apes” films, appears onscreen as himself.

The trailer is backed by an eerie version of the song “I’ve Got No Strings” from the 1940 Disney animated film “Pinocchio.” (Marvel Entertainment was acquired by Disney in 2009.)

Also, as noted by Josh Dickey from the website Mashable, what appears to be the armor that goes by the name Hulkbuster is shown in the clip. In the comics, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), also known as Iron Man, created the suit so he would have a way to go up against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

“I’m going to show you something beautiful,” Ultron says in voiceover during the trailer. “Everyone screaming for mercy. You want to protect the world but you don’t want it to change. You’re all puppets, tangled in strings.”

Howard University hoped to make history. Now it’s ready for a different role.

Later, Tony says, “It’s the end of the path. The path I started us on.” (According to USA Today, Tony is responsible for the creation of Ultron in the movie.)

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) says, “Nothing lasts forever.”

Iron Man also appears to take on the Hulk in Tony's Hulkbuster armor near the end of the trailer.

“Ultron” hits theaters on May 1.
