CMA Awards: Miranda Lambert wins many prizes and Luke Bryan is Entertainer of the Year
At the Country Music Association Awards, Lambert took such awards as album of the year and female vocalist of the year, while Bryan was given the entertainer of the year prize.

The Country Music Association Awards, which aired on Nov. 6, included many wins by singer Miranda Lambert and singer Luke Bryan taking home the Entertainer of the Year honor.
Kacey Musgraves took the song of the year prize for her track “Follow Your Arrow,” while the group Florida Georgia Line won the vocal duo of the year award. Dierks Bentley took the music video of the year prize for the song “Drunk On a Plane.”
Meanwhile, Little Big Town took the vocal group of the year award and Brett Eldredge was named the best new artist of the year. Singer Blake Shelton was awarded the male vocalist of the year prize and the musician of the year prize went to Mac McAnally.
Lambert swept many other prizes. She took home the award for musical event of the year with Keith Urban for the song “We Were Us,” the female vocalist prize, the single of the year award for “Automatic,” and the album of the year award for “Platinum.”
In an interview with the Associated Press, Lambert said of “Platinum,” which was released this past June, “Loretta Lynn said you've got to live a life in order to sing about it. That's what I'm doing. The good, the bad, and the ugly is on this record. It's who I am.”
Rolling Stone critic Will Hermes wrote of the “Platinum” song “Priscilla,” “As elsewhere on her fifth LP, it takes a cheeky view of her ascent to country music Queen Bee… mostly it shows how Lambert earned her throne: by singing top-shelf songs in the voice of a woman getting real… [on ‘Platinum’], Lambert also taps the old and alt elements beyond Music Row pop that make country music so rich.”
According to USA Today, when she took the album of the year award at the CMA Awards, she said of “Platinum,” “I wrote with a lot of my friends, sang with a lot of my friends… and I appreciate you fans supporting it and relating to it.”
Meanwhile, according to the Washington Post, when Bryan took his award, he said, “We’re gonna have a good time tonight” and, according to USA Today, mentioned that he has "some angels in heaven – my brother and sister are up there and making this night possible for me."
