(Spoilers follow for the 2014 “X-Men” movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past”…)

As “X-Men” film fans know, the 2006 movie “X-Men: The Last Stand” included Jean killing Cyclops, also known as Scott Summers, after she transforms into the dangerous mutant known as the Phoenix. After her powers put other mutants in danger, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) kills Phoenix.

However, in the newest “X-Men” film, “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) convince Wolverine to travel back to the 1970s to save the lives of mutants. An unexpected side effect from him doing so was the revival of Phoenix and Cyclops in the present.

According to io9, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” actor Oscar Isaac is set to star in the upcoming “X-Men” film as the titular villain Apocalypse. In the comic books, Apocalypse often faces off with the X-Men and their allies.

According to IGN, “Apocalypse” will include the return of actors Michael Fassbender (who portrays the younger version of villain Magneto), James McAvoy (who is the younger version of Professor Xavier), and Jennifer Lawrence, who portrays the shapeshifter Mystique at a younger age. “Apocalypse” will be released in May 2016, according to IGN.
