Katy Perry: Here are some of the best tweets about her Super Bowl halftime performance

Perry's halftime show included dancing sharks, palm trees, and a large animal statue. She performed with artists Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott.

This year’s Super Bowl was reportedly the most-tweeted-about ever, with more than 28 million tweets with the hashtag #SB49 being sent over the course of the night, according to Twitter. This beats last year’s total of more than 24 million.

And one of the chief topics of discussion on Twitter was singer Katy Perry’s halftime show. Perry performed during the break with artists Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott and her show included her perching on top of a huge animal statue, dancing with sharks and palm trees, and riding far above the crowd on a star-shaped structure. Song choices included “Roar,” “California Gurls,” “Firework,” and “I Kissed A Girl,” which Perry performed with Kravitz. Meanwhile, some of the songs selected by Elliott included “Work It” and “Get Ur Freak On.”

Lots of bright colors and over-the-top visuals were involved, and some Twitter users loved it, while others were less won over. However, it should surprise no one who saw the show that the shark dancers were one of the main topics of discussion.

CBC reporter Nick Purdon thought Perry’s show might improve the image of sharks.

Radio presenter Simon Clarke also admired the shark performers in Perry’s show. 

People Magazine editor Whitney Little noticed that the shark dancer on the left was performing a slightly different routine from the one on the right.

Meanwhile, user Kayla Bennett thought she could find an everyday use for the shark costumes.

Former NFL player Matthew A. Cherry pointed out how Perry’s “Firework” prop resembled another famous star.

Twitter user Honeyleen Novilla noticed that one of Perry's outfits bore a resemblance to a costume from the Will Ferrell comedy "Blades of Glory."

Washington Examiner writer Joseph Lawler pointed out that the people performing as trees in Perry’s show had one of the most difficult jobs.

And user Daniel Waits found that his normal vehicle looked a little sadder after the halftime performance.
