More cast members have reportedly been added to “Fuller House,” internet-TV service Netflix’s upcoming original series featuring some of the characters from the ABC sitcom “Full House."
According to Deadline, actress Lori Loughlin, who portrayed Becky Donaldson Katsopolis, is coming back for the show. “Officially I am going to be a part of the reboot, or spinoff, ‘Fuller House,’” Loughlin said.
Actors John Stamos and Dave Coulier, who also starred on the original show, will make guest appearances, according to Deadline, and Stamos recently tweeted,
According to the Hollywood Reporter, actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will not be appearing on the show. Actresses Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber, who played D.J., Stephanie, Kimmy respectively, and are all starring on the program.
“Full House” aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995 and centered on the Tanner family, headed up by patriarch Danny (Saget). After Danny’s wife died, his brother-in-law Jesse (Stamos) and friend Joey (Coulier) moved in with him to help Danny with his three daughters (Bure, Sweetin, and the Olsens, who split the part of the youngest daughter, Michelle).
Now, according to Deadline, the new Netflix show will follow a similar formula, with oldest daughter D.J. (Bure) having recently lost her spouse. Her sister Stephanie (Sweetin) and high school friend Kimmy (Barber) move in with her to help D.J. with her children.
If the show succeeds, it will be a welcome addition to Netflix's family-friendly roster of shows. The subscription streaming service is better known for their more adult programming, with shows like “House of Cards,” “Orange Is the New Black,” “Daredevil,” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” "Fuller House" will be a high-profile new series that parents can put on even before the kids have gone to bed.
