'The Good Dinosaur' trailer: Are dinosaurs back in pop culture?
A trailer has been released for the upcoming Pixar movie 'The Good Dinosaur.' We don't know yet if the stories and characters of 'Jurassic World' and the Pixar movie will be interesting to audiences, but Steven Spielberg and Pixar are hard to resist.

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Pixar film “The Good Dinosaur.”
The animation studio is set to release a new film, “Inside Out,” later this month, so “Dinosaur” isn’t due until this November. But we already know a little bit about the plot of "Dinosaur" – the film's director, Pete Sohn, told Yahoo! Movies that the film centers on a dinosaur named Arlo who gets lost and has to find his family again. While searching for them, he befriends a human that he calls Spot.
In addition, the film takes place in a world where that asteroid that may have wiped out the dinosaurs didn’t even land on Earth. “It’s been fun to let go of what has happened,” Sohn said.
“Dinosaur” will be joining “Jurassic World,” which is coming out on June 12, as two dinosaur-centric movies at the multiplex this year. Will the two be able to bring quality movies about dinosaurs back to theaters? It’s been 14 years since a “Jurassic Park” movie came to theaters and the second and third in the series weren’t well-received by critics (“The Lost World: Jurassic Park” holds a score of 59 out of 100 on the review aggregator website Metacritic and the score of “Jurassic Park III” is even lower at 42).
Meanwhile, Disney released an animated movie, simply titled “Dinosaur,” in 2000, but the film isn’t well-remembered and didn’t do well with critics. (It has a Metacritic score of 56.) Dinosaurs have played supporting parts in movies in recent years, like in Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake of “King Kong,” but for the most part, they haven’t been in the spotlight.
There are few bigger names in Hollywood than Steven Spielberg (who is executive-producing “Jurassic World”) and Pixar. If they win over audiences with quality storylines and characters, they just may bring about a dinosaur renaissance.
