Teen Choice Awards 2015: Who took the top prizes at this year's ceremony
Prizes at Fox's Teen Choice Awards went to such recipients as the group One Direction and the ABC Family TV show 'Pretty Little Liars.'

The music group One Direction and the TV shows “Empire” and “Pretty Little Liars” won some of the top prizes at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards.
The awards show aired on Fox on Aug. 16 and awards were bestowed in such diverse categories as favorite male athlete and favorite selfie taker.
In the TV section of awards, the Fox show “Empire” took the breakout show prize, while ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” took the TV drama award and “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS won the comedy prize. “Liars” actor Ian Harding won the award for actor in a TV drama, while Hale of “Liars” won the TV drama actress prize. Ross Lynch of the Disney Channel show “Austin & Ally” won the TV comedy actor award and Lea Michele of “Glee” won the TV comedy actress award. The prize for sci-fi/fantasy show went to “The Vampire Diaries” on the CW, while Nina Dobrev of “Vampire” won the award for an actress on a sci-fi/fantasy show and Jared Padalecki of the CW’s “Supernatural” won the prize for an actor on a sci-fi/fantasy show.
Singer Ed Sheeran won the award for male artist, while Demi Lovato won the female artist prize. One Direction took the award for a male music group and Fifth Harmony won the prize for a female music group. Music group Little Mix won the breakout artist award.
One Direction dominated other music categories, taking the love song, party song, group song, summer tour, and group summer music star awards.
Meanwhile, the action/adventure movie prize went to “Furious 7” and the drama movie award went to “If I Stay.” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” was named as the best sci-fi/fantasy movie of the year and “Pitch Perfect 2” took the prize for best comedy.
The triumph of One Direction in the music category shows that the successful music group isn’t going anywhere. One Direction has released an album a year since 2011 and all of them have debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, the only musical group ever to have their first four albums debut at number one.
“Drag Me Down,” a song from One Direction’s upcoming fifth album, was released earlier this summer and is currently at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
