Ellen DeGeneres surprised guest Kaley Cuoco, aka Penny on the CBS hit ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ and her fiancé Ryan Sweeting with an impromptu wedding ceremony this week.

Ms. Cuoco told the host that she had immediately fallen for the tennis pro after a close mutual friend had set the two up on a date. At the time Cuoco said that she didn’t think she was ready to meet someone, and was “taking a break from love.” She reluctantly agreed to meet Mr. Sweeting for dinner when he came to Los Angeles to meet with a doctor after undergoing back surgery.

“We’re still on our first date, he never went home.” Cuoco told Ms. DeGeneres that by the second day of their visit together, she just knew, “this is it,” though she dodged the question of just how long the couple had been dating before getting engaged.

After telling Cuoco that she and her wife Portia could relate, having moved in with each other after dating for just two weeks, DeGeneres mentioned that her head writer, Kevin Leman happened to have been ordained as a minister over the summer and could marry the two right there on stage (Sweeting was waiting for Cuoco back stage.)

Before Cuoco could dismiss the offer as a joke, DeGeneres whipped out a racket bag filled with a tennis ball studded veil and necklace.

Sweeting quickly joined his bride on stage dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, clearly just as surprised as Cuoco.

DeGeneres gave the bride away and loaned the couple her rings as Mr. Lemam performed one of the fastest wedding ceremonies in television history.

“Do you? ... Do you? ... By the power invested in me by California and a Google search, you guys are married!” Leman proclaimed.
