James Beard 2012 nominee: “The Big Stir”

The Monitor's July 11, 2011 "The Big Stir" cover story has been nominated for a prestigious James Beard food writing award.

Covering all aspects of the industry – from chefs and restaurateurs to cookbook authors and food journalists to restaurant designers and architects and more – the Beard Awards are the highest honor for food and beverage professionals working in North America. The awards are presented each spring at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Nominees and winners are fêted at a weekend of events in New York City that has become the social and gastronomic highlight of the year.

We’ve got some thrilling news! The July 11, 2011 cover story for The Christian Science Monitor has been selected as a James Beard award nominee under “Food Coverage in a General-Interest Publication,” a new category this year.

“The Big Stir” was the title on the cover of the magazine, but you can find it online under “America’s new culinary renaissance.
