Oakland's Richard Seymour has been fined $25,000 for a hit on Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, not a helmet-to-helmet collision of the sort the NFL has been disciplining but an open-handed smack to the jaw.
The Raiders' five-times Pro Bowl defensive lineman struck the Pittsburgh signal caller after he had tossed a touchdown pass for a 21-3 lead Sunday on the way to a 35-3 rout.
Roethlisberger had run over to break up some pushing and shoving between players to get his team mates ready for the extra point.
"It blew my mind," Roethlisberger told reporters of the unexpected blow from Seymour, who escaped suspension and will be available for Oakland's game on Sunday against the visiting Miami Dolphins.
