Amy Poehler joins SNL sendoff to Seth Meyers

Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader and Fred Armisen joined the final Weekend Updated hosted on Saturday Night Live by Seth Meyers.  Meyers leaving to host NBC's "Late Night." Amy Poehler won her first Golden Globe award last month.

Seth Meyers has departed "Saturday Night Live," just weeks before he begins his new job as host of "Late Night."

Meyers co-hosted "Weekend Update" on the NBC sketch-comedy series for eight seasons and was joined for his farewell newscast by "SNL" alumni Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg, Bill Hader and Fred Armisen.

Adam Sandberg sang  "it's so Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday," a Boyz II Men song, to Meyers.

They told Meyers they had come to take him "to the other side."

Meyers got a little emotional in his farewell, calling his "SNL" tenure "the job I always wanted." He joined the cast in 2001.

He'll take over at NBC's "Late Night" on Feb. 24. Meyers is replacing Jimmy Fallon, who's tacking over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno on Feb. 17.

"SNL" head writer Colin Jost will replace Meyers at the "Weekend Update" anchor desk alongside Cecily Strong. He signs on March 1.

:Last month, Amy Poehler won a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Television Series, "Parks and Recreation." It was her first Golden Globe award, after being nominated in 2012 and 2013. "I think I'm 0 for 13 in these awards shows, so I was very, very, very surprised to win and very excited," said an exuberant Poehler, according to E!Online.
