'A Good Day to Die Hard' makes John McClane a little too invincible

The 'Die Hard' franchise starring Bruce Willis may have run its course.

I suspect the “Die Hard” franchise is down for the count with “A Good Day to Die Hard,” the Bruce Willis annuity that began 25 years ago. His police detective John McClane makes it to Moscow in this one, where he teams up with his estranged son and CIA operative Jack (Jai Courtney) to quell a gaggle of Russian nasties.

John's appeal was always his ordinariness, but director John Moore has him surviving more explosions than Wile E. Coyote, and with hardly a scratch. If there is to be a sequel to this thudding slab of cacophony, why not just go all the way and make John McClane a superhero? Grade: C (Rated R for violence and language.)
