Pedro Almodóvar's first comedy in some time was a promising idea, but the movie disappoints.

Pedro Almodóvar has become such a critics’ darling and art-house fave that each new film of his is greeted as an occasion to rejoice. But I haven’t been aboard the love boat with Almodóvar in a long time, not really since “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.”
His new film, “I’m So Excited!,” promised some of that film’s hallucinatory giddiness – it’s been a long time since Almodóvar made a flat-out comedy – but this farce set mostly aboard a transatlantic flight stuck in midair never launches. Grade: C (Rated R for strong sexual content including crude references, and drug use.)
