Baltasar Kormákur’s “2 Guns” is based on a graphic novel by Steven Grant, and it’s plenty graphic but none too novel. Denzel Washington plays a DEA agent who has been working for 12 months alongside Mark Wahlberg’s naval intelligence officer. The catch is, both undercover, they each think the other is a member of the Mexican drug cartel they are seeking to infiltrate.
It’s essentially a buddy-cop romp with the usual assortment pack of graphic gruesomeness. Washington and Wahlberg have enough fast-patter chemistry to ensure the inevitable sequel. Grade: C+ (Rated R for violence throughout, language and brief nudity.)
