Radiohead tour: What makes 'A Moon Shaped Pool' a hit?
Radiohead have announced 2017 American tour dates after releasing the critically acclaimed 2016 album 'A Moon Shaped Pool,' which critics called 'gorgeously orchestrated,' with the group having 'rarely ... sounded surer of its strengths.'

The band Radiohead will tour in America and Europe following the release of their critically well-received 2016 album “A Moon-Shaped Pool.”
In addition to appearing at the music festival Coachella while they are in America, Radiohead will also appear in cities such as Miami, where the tour will kick off on March 30, and Atlanta, Seattle, and Santa Barbara, Calif.
The band will then travel to Europe, where it will perform in Oslo, Milan, and at the Glastonbury Festival in Britain, among other dates in the W.A.S.T.E. tour.
Radiohead released its most recent album, “A Moon Shaped Pool,” this past summer and the work was well-received by reviewers, with some naming it to their list of the best releases of the year.
Rolling Stone staff did so, calling the album “gorgeously orchestrated.”
“In ballads like ‘Decks Dark,’ Yorke sounds overwhelmed by the alien strings and dub bass, as if he awoke from the troubled dreams of ‘Kid A’ or ‘Amnesiac’ to find real life was no longer recognizable,” the music staff wrote, calling “Moon” “perhaps the band's “most ravishingly beautiful album, awash in piano and violin and acoustic guitar frills straight out of ‘Led Zeppelin III’.... Yet somehow it's never soothing – as Yorke warns here, the truth will mess you up.”
New York Times staff also put “Moon” on its list of the best albums of 2016. “Radiohead has uncorked more snarl before, and strained harder against formalities,” critic Nate Chinen wrote, “but rarely has it sounded surer of its strengths – or more flat-out gorgeous, as Jonny Greenwood’s orchestrations deepen the glassy disquiet.”
The band’s previous releases include 1997’s “OK Computer” and 2000’s “Kid A.” “Moon” was Radiohead’s first album since 2011’s “The King of Limbs.”
