A fire has been reported aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship that was on its way to the Bahamas.
According to cruise line's statement on its website, the fire occurred on the mooring area of deck 3 about 2:15 a.m. Monday aboard the ship Grandeur of the Seas and was quickly extinguished.
Miami-based Royal Caribbean says the 2,224 passengers and 796 crew members had to report to evacuation stations but that all are safe and have been accounted for. The cruise line also says the ship still has full power. No major injuries were reported.
The ship left Baltimore on Friday for a 7-night cruise. It was on its way to CocoCay in the Bahamas, but instead went to Freeport, Bahamas, for further evaluation.
