Anchorage, Alaska
The National Geographic Channel says two Alaska State Troopers who were shot and killed in a remote village had been featured on a show about patrolling the state's wild terrain, but they were not filming at the time of their deaths.
National Geographic said in a statement it was "incredibly saddened" to hear about the deaths Thursday of Trooper Gabriel "Gabe" Rich and Sgt. Patrick "Scott" Johnson in the isolated community of Tanana.
Few details about the shooting have been released, other than authorities saying one person has been detained.
National Geographic says both officers had appeared on the show "Alaska State Troopers," but neither had a film crew with them at the time of the shootings.
National Geographic says filming currently is being done with other troopers.
