Obama's First Dog Bo -- new photo released!

Meet Bo Obama, the new presidential First Dog. This newly released photo shows Bo at the tender age of 6 1/2 weeks -- way before he was on the First Family's radar screen.

Putting aside the controversy over whether President Obama broke his promise to adopt the First Dog from an animal rescue center or animal shelter, we thought you might be interested in a new photo of Bo.

The incoming presidential pup is slated to debut at the White House later today. We don't know exactly what that means. Perhaps he'll get a full-out arrival ceremony on the South Lawn complete with motorcade, 21 gun salute, and State Dinner.

Or maybe he'll get some snausages and a bean bag toy.

Regardless, the hairball you see in the above picture is what Bo looked like when he was really young -- only 6 1/2 weeks old. Click on the enlarge button to see a better view.

We'll post more photos when we get them.

Controversy

By the way, you know a controversy has entered the mainstream when the always-available-for-comment Larry Sabato is interviewed. On the issue of the Obama's decision to get a non-shelter dog the University of Virginia professor says the president is guilty of breaking a campaign promise but opines he'll probably get over it.

"He broke a campaign promise, there's no question about it, but notice that he's making a financial contribution to a shelter, so they obviously recognize that he broke a promise," Sabato said. "As broken campaign promises go, this one is fairly trivial."

Others disagree -- mightily. Like an author who featured President Obama in her book promoting adoption. Click here to read her story.
