On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama will be addressing the American people with his second State of the Union address (technically, his February 24, 2009 address was not a State of the Union address, but rather just an address to a joint session of Congress).
He has already given some insight as to what to expect by posting a video on Friday. With all eyes and ears ready to tune into the Presidents speech, tonight, you might be asking "What time is the state of the union address?"
The president will go on air on major television networks as well as begin streaming video at 9pm EST (6pm PST) tonight.
According to his Friday video, the President will be talking about these topics:
- Unemployment/job creation
- Keeping America competitive
- Building infrastructure
- Improving education (to "out-educate" the rest of the world)
- Debt/deficit reduction
- Government reform
- Domestic security
- Advancing international interests
- Bipartisanship in Washington
ABC will start with the State of the Union at 9pm EST and follow up with the Republican response.
CBS will start a special edition of Washington Unplugged at 8pm EST and follow up with the State of the Union hosted by Katie Couric.
On CNN starting at 8pm EST, Wolf Blitzer will talk about the issues President Obama will need to address, followed by the State of the Union address at 9pm EST, followed by the Republican response at 10pm EST.
FOX plans on running only the State of the Union address at 9pm EST, while Fox News will follow the State of the Union address with the Republican response.
NBC's Dateline will be airing a special on the State of the Union at 9pm EST, which will last for two and a half hours until 11:30pm EST.
PBS's Frontline will not be broadcasting the State of the Union address.
