In the third from final NASCAR Sprint Cup race Sunday in Texas, tempers got hotter than an habanero pepper on the part of both Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.
After being hit by fellow driver Jeff Burton during a caution period on lap 192, Gordon shoved, then threw punches in Burton's direction while both drivers stood on the track.
As for Johnson, the four-time defending NASCAR champion lost time in the pits Sunday, had his pit crew replaced by Gordon's crew, and lost not only the race, but his points lead in the 'Chase for the Sprint Cup.'
Texas winner Denny Hamlin now leads the standings with 6,325 points. Johnson is in second, 33 points behind with two races left.
This Sunday, the Chase continues at Phoenix, with the final event on Nov. 21 at Homestead, Florida.
