If you need to ask the rate, these hotels aren't for you
Affluent travelers may fly first-class, but the super-rich won't be found on a commercial plane. They live what the magazine Elite Traveler calls the "private jet lifestyle," a money-is-no-object existence often filled with 40 or more trips a year, including 10 of the intercontinental variety. They're the ones most often drawn to the magazine's annual list of the top 100 hotels and resorts, because it takes a person with very deep pockets to afford these pricey accommodations. The most expensive penthouse-style hotel/resort suites on this year's Elite Traveler list, with location and cost of a one-night stay:
- Hotel President Wilson (Geneva) $52,000
- Grand Resort Lagonissi (Attica, Greece) $50,000
- Four Seasons Hotel (New York) $30,000
- Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome $21,500
- The Ritz-Carlton Moscow $21,000
- Palazzo Resort (Las Vegas) $20,000
- Banyan Tree Sanya (Sanya, China) $19,700
- Le Richemond (Geneva) $18,826
- Le Meurice (Paris) $18,500
- The Carlyle (New York) $15,000
- Grand Wailea Resort and Spa (Maui, Hawaii) $15,000
