Women's World Cup TV schedule: US takes on Australia Monday
Even the behemoth Internet search engine Google is saluting the women of the world taking part in FIFA's quadrennial event with one of their signature doodles.

After two days of tournament action, the United States women's national team finally gets on the pitch Monday night with their first Women's World Cup match against Australia.
The Americans' initial Group D stage contest will be played at Winnipeg Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba. On Monday, Internet search giant Google used their homepage to honor all the ladies soccer teams with a special "Women's World Cup" doodle.
Olympic and World Cup veteran Abby Wambach will lead the US against the Aussies, who will feature midfielder Katrina Gorry, one of several Australian women who also play in the National Women's Soccer League here in the US, as reported by FIFA.com.
Australian soccer blogger Lucy Zelic writes that team co-captain Lisa De Vanna has said "it’s the best squad I’ve played with" and that they’re equipped with "the football brains and the skills" to achieve greatness in this year's Women's World Cup tournament.
With Monday evening's match, fans and media should get a better read on the overall fitness of fellow US Olympian Alex Morgan. She has been dealing with a leg injury since April, but did return to practice with her teammates last Wednesday.
According to USSoccer.com, The "Matildas," as the Lady Australians are sometimes referred to, have never beaten the Americans, but have tied them twice in a total of 24 matches, dating back to 1987.
The last time these two teams met was back on October 20, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. The US won, 4-0. Twelve of the current US national team members, including goal scorers Lauren Holiday, Carli Lloyd, Christen Press, and Abby Wambach, played in that match.
The US women and Australia will take the field at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time Monday in Winnipeg. You can see the match on Fox Sports 1.
Other Women's World Cup matches on Monday include the second pair of Group D participants, Nigeria and Sweden, also playing in Winnipeg, at 4 p.m. Eastern time. That match can be seen on Fox.
At 7 p.m. Eastern, Cameroon and Ecuador in Group C will meet in Vancouver. You can watch that match on Fox Sports 2.
Finally, the other Group C match between defending Women's World Cup champion Japan and Switzerland also takes place in Vancouver, beginning approximately at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Fox Sports 1.
