My Karachi, and how it's changed

Reporters on the Job: As a lifelong resident of Karachi, Pakistan, I had come to take its cosmopolitan nature for granted. But the city is changing. Over the past few years, religiosity has been on the rise. Graffiti on the walls praises Allah rather than politicians. Most women are now in head scarves and burkas. And there are more subtle changes. Pathans – Pashto-speaking migrants from the North-West Frontier Province - now prefer to be identified by the specific region or tribal area they come from, because Pathan is increasingly synonymous with Taliban.
