Join Passcode and Privacy Lab on Wednesday, September 21 at 6:15 p.m. PDT for discussion around EU privacy including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Privacy Shield, Brexit, and more.

After months of bureaucratic debate between the EU and US, policymakers have finally reached an agreement on Privacy Shield, a transatlantic data transfer pact.

"This is an important achievement for the privacy rights of citizens across Europe," said John Frank, vice president of EU government affairs for Microsoft, on the company's blog. "Privacy Shield shows that there is more that unites the US and Europe on data protection than a superficial comparison might suggest. On both sides of the Atlantic, people and policymakers believe in strong privacy protection."

But now that an agreement has been reached, what are next steps for companies on either side of the Atlantic? How does the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) factor in? And will Brexit present further issues to navigate?
