Monitor correspondent ordered from Afghanistan
| Washington
James Dorsey, special correspondent of The Christian Science Monitor, was among several newsmen singled out by name in an expulsion order issued by the Soviet-backed government of Afghanistan. All American journalists and their crews were ordered to leave on the first available plane out of Kabul. Between 30 and 50 news people are thought to be affected.
The State Department reacted to the expulsion order by calling it "a flagrant violation of basic norms and international behavior."
