Joel, Warwick beat out disco stars

The doobie Brothers won Grammys for record and song of the year and Billy Joel and Dionne Warwick scored upset victories over disco stars, but at times the 22nd annual Grammy Awards sounded more like a gospel festival.

Rock and jazz stalwarts Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney's Wings, the Eagles, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald also won key awards Wednesday night from the members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Miss Warwick, who won the award for best pop female performance for "I'll Never Love This Way Again," told the nationwide audience, "I want to thank God for giving me the voice to win this award."

Bob Dylan, a born-again Christian, won the best male rock performance Grammy. "I didn't expect this," he said in accepting, "and I want to thank the Lord."
