Cambodia countdown

The sad countdown continues in Cambodia. Will international aid be ready to feed the hungry when meager home-grown supplies run out at the end of this month? from then until the harvests late in the year the 3 1/2 million people of this war-ravaged land will again be wholly dependent on outside food relief of some 40,000 tons a month -- not a mere 40 tons a month, of course, as incorrectly published on this page in the editorial "Find the funds for Cambodia."

Those funds must still be found. They are being sought by the United Nations in a world community that pledged $200 million last year and will probably have to do as much again. It is a test of humanity that must not be failed while Cambodia struggles back to the food self-sufficiency of which it is capable.
