"Guernica," Pablo Picasso's masterpiece, will be returned to Spain by the New York Museum of Modern Art this fall, Madrid's Culture Ministry said Tuesday. The canvas, painted in 1937 to publicize the destruction by Nazi bombers of the Basque nationalist shrine in Guernica, has been on loan in New York since 1956.
