The Kremlin to Khomeini: keep fighting 'imperialism'

Soviet President Brezhnev told the Iranian revolutionary leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, that the Soviet people sympathize with Iran's struggle against what he called "the intrigues of imperialism." The Kremlin chief made the remark Monday in a cable of congratulation marking the 60th anniversary of the setting up of diplomatic ties between Moscow and Tehran.

"The Soviet people display much respect and sympathy for the just struggle by the courageous Iranian people against the intrigues of imperialism and colonialism, for the right to dispose of its own natural wealth and safeguard its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity," he said.
