The Anderson camp passed the $2 million mark in its fund-raising efforts a week ago and has been bringing in an average of about $50,000 a day since the Anderson independent candidacy was declared April 24.

Although the pace will have to pick up to reach Anderson's goal of raising between $12 million and $15 million by Nov. 3, financial staffers consider things to be going well. And they will only get better, a spokesman says, as Anderson's "visibility and viability" as a candidate increase.

His visibility is beginning to increase already, as he spent much of last week in California drumming up signatures to petition his way onto the ballot.Anderson has said he will abandon his candidacy if he does not win ballot access in California.m
