Jobs for this year's college graduates are up 8 to 10 percent over 1979, with the demand for engineers up 21 percent, reports showed Monday. The other high-demand fields -- with starting salaries around $20,000 -- are computers science, and business, finding of the College Placement Council and the Endicott Report show. By contrast, first salaries for liberal arts graduates -- "who must hustle and show flexibility" -- are pegged at around $13,000 a year.
