Senate OKs $15.9 billion in emergency funding

The Senate, in an unusual Saturday night session, approved a $15.9 billion emergency appropriations bill for the government's current financial year. The measure includes $1.5 billion in government loan guarantees for Chrysler and nearly $1 billion for relief following the eruption of Mt. St. Helens.

It also includes $75 million in reconstruction aid for Nicaragua; $100 million resettlement assistance for Cuban refugees in the United States; $30 million in food relief for Indochinese refugees; and $20 million in Caribbean relief for last year's Hurricane David.
