Sunbelt continues to bake in 100-plus temperatures
In the Southwest, where a heat wave again baked a three-state section of the Sunbelt -- Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas -- authorities Tuesday said the record temperatures, ranging from 100 to 113 degrees, were linked to as many as 51 deaths.
Meanwhile, a squall line of violent winds clocked at up to 70 miles an hour struck Salt Lake City Monday, damaging the copper dome of the State Capitol Building, downing trees, and causing power outages.
