Woolworth furniture store

In Britain, F. W. Woolworth Company has opened Furnishing World, its first full-line furniture store, at Southampton. The store, No. 1 of nine such stores scheduled for opening by mid-1981, is offering immediate backup stock availability, interest-free credit, and free delivery.

Only a small portion of the 18,000 square feet of selling space will be devoted to the unassembled furniture line which some Woolworth stores have been offering in the past. Units in this furniture chain are planned as one-level stores to be opened near shopping centers and with their own adequate adjacent parking areas.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
