Floyd's, a Fantastic Place

Floyd's is a fantastic place. One reason that kids and grownups like it is because it has some cheap things. For instance, for kids it has sky skimmers, only about 10 or 19 cents. For grownups it has books. For children it has coloring books and footballs, wiffle-balls, and lots of other things, too. Floyd's is one of my best stores. And it probably is lots of other people's favorite, too. I feel comfortable in Floyd's. It's not too dark. And it's not too light. It's in between. And the owner and saleslady, Mrs. Alice Rice, make you feel at home. I really like Floyd's and I bet you will too.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
