Arab League plans use of economic levers

Arab League foreign and economic ministers met in an emergency session Tuesday night to discuss a plan to free the Arab world from economic dependence on the industrialized West and at the same time put heavy pressure on Israel. Under consideration was an Iraqi proposal to use Arab oil wealth to drive Israel into bankruptcy. Sources said the plan was drawing broad support from the ministers of 20 Arab countries and the Palestine Liberation Organization. Egypt was not present.
