Ex-Representative Diggs ordered to prison July 23

Former Rep. Charles C. Diggs Jr. (D) of Michigan was ordered Monday to report to a federal prison on July 23 to begin serving a three-year sentence for mail fraud and payroll kickbacks. Mr. Diggs was convicted in 1978 of obtaining kickbacks to help meet personal and business expenses by inflating salaries of staff members and hirign two others who did no government work.
