In article that appeared on this page July 16, it was stated that Wilbur Crane Eveland's "Ropes of Sand: America's Failure in the middle East" had undergone CIA censorship. The author did not submit the book to the Central Intelligence Agency for prepublication review. The Monitor regrets this error.
