Waldheim said to urge Palestinian state

At a private dinner hosted by the Arab League over the weekend, UN Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim called for establishment of an independent Palestinian state, his spokesman said. Guests quoted Mr. Waldheim as reiterating his view that the Palestine Liberation Organization must be brought into the Middle East peace negotiations, and as endorsing Palestinian self-determination.
